Leon Glenn, Sr. began the business in the early 1950s with one dump truck, a small roller and two part-time employees.  He operated the business out of his home with the help of his wife, Gertie.  In 1966, Mr. Glenn's eldest son, Leon Glenn, Jr., joined the business and named it Glenn Contracting & Paving Company, Inc.

    In 1978, Louise Glenn became the major stockholder of Glenn Contracting and Paving Co., Inc. which made it a “woman-owned” business.  This opened the door to more government contracts.  The company began to grow its bottom line. 

    Our policy has always been to give the customer good quality service at a fair price.  In 1994, the Company was awarded the Small Business Person of the Year Award from the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce.  

    Today the business is carried on by the 3rd generation under the direction of Chris Glenn and Mike Sharp.
